Jeannette Jacqueline Lucejko is researcher at the Department of Chemistry and Industrial Chemistry of the University of Pisa. She graduated in Chemistry in 1998 at the University of Bialystok and in 2006 at the University of Pisa. She received her PhD in Chemical Sciences in 2010 from the University of Pisa. Her research activity mainly concerns the development of analytical procedures based on pyrolysis, chromatography and mass spectrometry for the study and the characterisation of archaeological waterlogged wood. In particular, she is interested in the identification of the type of deterioration (chemical changes) occurring in holocellulose and lignin, in waterlogged wooden artefacts, and how these processes impact the wood conservation. Moreover, she is involved in the study of organic materials as terpenic resins, protein, lipids in amorphous archaeological residues and natural organic dyes and pigments employed in works of art. She has developed analytical and instrumental methodologies based on GC/MS, Py-GC/MS, EGA-MS, DE-MS and HPLC-DAD for the study of complex mixtures of organic materials and for the understanding of their ageing pathways.
